! TOP NEWS !

1. Anthropic flew its top researchers to Washington to fight the Fable 5 ban. Models still down, no restoration date, and the government still hasn't shared the jailbreak that triggered it 🔒

2. SpaceX closed the $60B Cursor deal. All stock. Cursor's CEO is teasing a new Opus-class model coming in weeks 🚀

3. OpenAI's leaked financials show a brutal year. $17B went to Microsoft alone. 📉

4. DeepSeek raised $7.4B in its first-ever outside round. The deal structure is unlike anything in AI — investors get zero voting rights and Liang Wenfeng personally put in $3B 🇨🇳

! PRODUCT NEWS !

1. Z.ai dropped GLM-5.2 — MIT open-weights, same pricing as before. Now the top open model for frontend coding, beating Opus 4.7 in Design Arena by a wide margin 🧪

2. Agents & Bagels — weekly SF breakfast for founders and builders

3. CoreWeave just trained DeepSeek-V3 671B in a time that didn't seem possible. A new MLPerf record on Nvidia's GB300 chips, on the same cloud customers actually use 🏎️

Building voice agents still takes way too long. Norm fixes that.

Most teams know what they want their AI phone agent to do. The challenge is turning that idea into a production-ready agent with call logic, routing, guardrails, and testing.

Norm builds voice agents from a prompt.

Describe the agent you want, and Norm generates a working voice agent you can test, refine, and deploy in minutes.

• Build Faster: Go from idea to agent instantly.
• Prompt First: Define behavior in plain English.
• Test Real Calls: Hear conversations before deployment.
• Debug Faster: Replay calls and identify issues quickly.

🚀 Credits toward your first Twilio build

Twilio set us up with a promo code for free API credits — useful if you're building anything with voice, SMS, or conversational AI. Use code AI-SIGNALS at twil.io/promo-guide to apply it to a new account.

They also have a Discord if you want to share what you're building or get unstuck: discord.gg/BPaUvYqQvh 🛠️

! FOR THE CURIOUS !

🪖 Meta’s new “gulag”

Remember when Meta laid off 8,000 people in May? Well, they also moved 7,000 others into a new unit called Applied AI. No choice, you join or say bye.

Engineers who'd spent years building Instagram and WhatsApp got surprise transfer emails and were told to start generating training data. Puzzles. Coding problems. The monotonous grunt work that trains AI models. The unit was set up with 50 people under a single manager. That's not it. Some employees explicitly told reporters the unit felt like "literally the gulag."

It gets worse. More than 1,600 signed a petition against the keystroke and click tracking program Meta was running on their laptops to harvest behavioral data for AI agents. And someone hijacked an internal livestream in front of thousands of colleagues, demanding they tell a senior AI executive he was "a piece of sh*t." One presenter even covered their face.

Bosworth's (CTO) fix? More stability, better communication, and better-stocked snack kitchens. Guess that’s a win.
